Tel Aviv: 6/7 September

Monday, 6 September: We arrived in Tel Aviv and checked into the Yamit Park Plaza Hotel. They had to bump us up to one suite, instead of two regular rooms, so we had two bedrooms, a living area, kitchen/dining room, and two bathrooms (and of course, we were only staying here one night!).

The hotel was right across from the beach, so after some lunch in the neighborhood, we went out to the beach for a while. Alan and Eric went in the Mediterranean, while Bootsie and Raya looked for shells along the water's edge. We headed back across the street to the hotel and hung out by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.

We sat on the balcony of the hotel suite, and watched the sun set over the Mediterranean Sea. For dinner that night, we went to a yummy seafood restaurant and then walked around on Dizengoff Street and along the beachfront promenade. Later, Raya and Eric took a moonlit stroll along the sand.

Tuesday, 7 September: We woke up early and hurried to catch our last "special taxi" to Ben Gurion Airport, where we changed the rest of our money, went through a final Passport Control, and caught our eleven-hour flight to Newark.

At Newark, we had a long delay getting our luggage, making Raya's parents worry that they would miss their flight back to Tampa (They made it!). After saying goodbye to them, we dragged our luggage all over the airport until we finally found the Hampton Inn shuttle. We got to the hotel, checked in, ordered a pizza, and were asleep by 8 PM!

The next morning, we caught our early morning flight back to Birmingham -- home sweet home!
