For Valentine's Day weekend, Eric planned a surprise getaway to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We went to Atlanta on Friday, February 12 to see a concert by Cry Cry Cry with our friends Kristen and Anne. Raya knew we were heading somewhere for a romantic weekend on Saturday, but she didn't know where! We spent Saturday and Sunday in Chattanooga, seeing the sights.

All day Sunday, the ring was burning a hole in Eric's pocket, as he waited for a private moment to pop the question. Finally, at our last stop in Chattanooga, atop Lookout Mountain, we asked a friendly-looking couple to take our picture, and then Eric steered Raya to a bench to sit and enjoy the view. When the couple left, and no more tourists were in view, Eric asked, presented the ring, and Raya said yes! We sat there for a few minutes, in slightly tearful bliss, and then headed home, talking about nothing but wedding plans the whole way back to Birmingham!
